Free Telephone Counselling For Children & Young Adults

Posted on July 8th, 2020

If you’re looking for a safe and confidential space to talk about life’s challenges, our free telephone counselling service for young adults provides support and guidance to those aged 10-25 years old.

To access this service, please emailgmicb-tameside.brooke@nhs.net with your name and contact telephone number. A counsellor will contact you between 2pm and 6pm on a Tuesday.

Hasserly Group Practice is working with Off the Record to provide mental health support to children and young adults.

  • Appointments are on a first come first serve basis.
  • Confidential telephone sessions with a counsellor.
  • The service can be used on a regular or ad-hoc basis.

Why choose telephone counselling?

Telephone counselling offers many benefits over traditional in-person therapy, this includes:

Convenience: You can access the service from the comfort of your own home, at a time that suits you.

Anonymity: Our telephone counselling service allows you to speak freely and honestly, without fear of judgement. It can often help people relax and open up more if they can’t be seen showing emotions that may be difficult to release in person.

Confidentiality: Our counsellors are bound by strict ethical standards and will keep all conversations confidential unless there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others.

Cost: Often counselling is very expensive and the financial stress of having a counsellor can add extra anxiety and lead to worse mental health. You can use this service for free with no costs weighing over you or causing you to stop treatment too early.

What issues can our counsellors help with?

Our counsellors are trained to help young adults between 10-25 years old, with a range of issues, including:

  • Mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and stress
  • Relationships and family problems
  • Career and education issues
  • Substance abuse and addiction
  • Grief and loss
  • Sexual health and sexuality

And more…
